Wish Listing

Third post in a day? You betcha.  Its probably because I want to get them all out of the way now because I probably won’t have time to do anything else between now and 2008.

  • Its that time of the season: my wish list.  Seriously, I think I must have Fletcher Hanks’ I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets.  I’ve cut them to a bare minimum of must haves.  Naturally, I can’t expect you to get the iPod.
  • The Beat pretty much declares that Hell has frozen over considering how well Alvin and the Chipmunks did this weekend.
  • Tomorrow, I am doing a story on this:

December 18: ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW! Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Superbad), Brian Michael Bendis (New Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man), Ed Brubaker (Captain America, X-Men, Criminal), Matt Fraction (Iron Fist, Casanova)

  • Which if that doesn’t make you geekgasm than I don’t know what will.

  • I hope that your holiday wish comes true and that some kind person gets you a copy of my book, “I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets: The Comics of Fletcher Hanks”.

Evidently the book also has appeal to people who don’t care about old comics. Of the book, Kurt Vonnegut said, ” The recovery from oblivion of these treasures is in itself a work of art.”

The visual impact is like being hit in the brain by a jackhammer. Once you see Hanks’ work, you are not likely to forget it.

I have been astonished by the reception. The first edition completely sold out within three weeks. Now the second edition has sold out and we are going into our third printing.

For those of you unfamiliar with Hanks’ work, I urge you to wander over to my website, go to the BONUS page, and see the slideshow of a Fantomah story that does NOT appear in the book:

(and check out the swell t-shirts!)

    Thanks,
    -Paul Karasik
