Birthday Resolutions

I realized something yesterday morning when I rolled out of bed: I don’t want to loathe the idea of being forced out of bed to go to a job that is a chore. Like mowing the lawn but worse, where you’re being chased around a room by a line of cross dressed, flesh eating zombies from Mercury.  I don’t like slogging my feet, making my coffee and having my morning bagel, to come to a job that I’m not fired up about going to.

Today is my birthday, and I think it’s time for a resolution, because it is kind of like New Years.  I’m not going to work or take a job that I’m not  fired up to do.  I mean, I’ve always known all of this stuff I just wrote, but yesterday morning it really came to the forefront of my mind enough so that I’m going to do something about it.

  • I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Dave. And don’t stress about the job. We’re in our mid-twenties. Do you know that many people who are totally in love with their work?

  • actually yeah, most of my friends are teachers and will be for the rest of their lives. Because if you’re willing to teach in this city, than that is a lifelong commitment in my mind.

  • I need a picture of these zombies.

BTW, after teaching for three years in the States, I was well on my way to being BURNT OUT. After moving to Korea, I”m seriously considering staying in teaching and getting ESL certified. Maybe it’s not what you do, but the company or place that you do it.

  • BTW, on your banner image you look freakishly like one of my exes. Your name isn’t really Paul and you’re not really 37 are you?

  • no, actually, just turned 27. Teaching for me, is something that’s in the future, not the immediate future.

  • Yeah, and at least you got a steady job right now. I’ve had to drop that “student” part of “Poor Student” this year. Then again, I echo what Pia says: I guess it takes a lil time to find something you really love. Shhot, I’m a lil worried about the prospects of having crappy jobs climbing upwards..
