Train Notes

Riding the train to Albany from Penn Station I was sitting next to a blond haired girl. We discussed Al Gore and how he should run for President and how the conductor sounded like she was drunk. Eventually we moved into discussing what we do for a living is never what we majored in college. She majored in advertising and now works for a hedge fund. I majored in journalism and now write comic books to which she ended our conversation with: “Well, that’s kind of like journalism.”

Just nod and smile.

So, after the car accident Friday night it was quite a production trying to get home. After initially hitting the deer, the car was fine; not overheating or anything. We made it past Keene and Keene Valley and on our way through the Cascade Lakes it started to overheat. Dad and I were talking that we were glad we were able to make it that far, because if the car had started like this where we hit the deer, there was no cell service out there; but closer to Cascade Lakes, I got the smallest of small signals and managed to call my brother who brought four gallons of water out. After stopping four times to refill the tank we get got home about two hours after the accident.

I still can’t drive at night around here thinking that something is going to jump out.

Al Gore was on the Daily Show Thursday night and I realized his new book is exactly what I’ve been writing with COLUMBIA. The lines between news and entertainment being blurred, meaning what a fucked up society it is that it’s front page news at The Post when Britney Spears shaves her head. There’s something VERY WRONG with that, and its not just The Post, it’s a lot of media outlets.
